Did you know that room 9 learnt why a fizzy drink erupets when you put mentos in it?It is because the carbon dioxide {co2} is protected from the water {h2o}.Then when you put mentos in it they brake the {h2o} up and the other co2 come in and get bigger.Thats how it makes the bottle overflow.

Now you know why the drink overflows you should try it yourself.

My maths goals are to read tally charts and a range of graphs for information.

My last maths goal is to become more confident in using place value to add numbers together.

This shows that I can add my hundreds together, my tens and then my ones together and then add all my tens and ones or hundreds, tens and ones together.

Evidence of achieving my reading goals

My goals are to confidently fill the missing word in the gap so that it makes sense during CLOZE activities.

This shows that I am getting better at reading the sentences and checking that what I fill the gaps with makes sense.


My last reading goal is to become more confident in answering inference questions.

I am trying hard to answer questions in my reading lessons with Mrs Head. This picture shows how I read a story called Haere Mai and I used the clues to answer the question of how people showed respect when they visited the marae.

My writing goals are to use full stops and capital letters correctly in my writing.

This picture shows that I am putting my capital letters and full stops into my stories. I am getting better at remembering to use them all the time.

Another goal is to stay focused at writing time so that I can get my ideas down quickly and make my stories longer.

This is one of my writing warm ups. I had five minutes to write a story that used a pencil, $5 note and boot. This helps me practice getting my ideas down quickly because I know I only have five minutes.

My last writing goal is to use a thesaurus to find words to make my writing more interesting.
This goal I am still working on. I need to remember to use the thesaurus as I write my stories or when I am proof reading my writing to find more interesting synonyms for words.

Lego characters are getting angrier

   

A New Zealand team of researches have discovered that the faces on Lego figures are becoming angrier.
The team analysed around 3,500 figures made between 1975 and 2010 and found that the number of happy ones was going down.
Christoph Bartneck, from the University of Canterbury, said that he started to notice how “the toys have changed over time”.
He wondered if the sets were moving more towards action themes, like Harry Potter and Star Wars.
Experts think there could be a connection between the toys children play with and how they behave.
Dr Bartneck added; “We cannot help but wonder how the move from only positive faces to an increasing number of negative faces impacts on how children play.”

Wow visit

I enjoyed making the mask for my groups hat using paper and I also liked seeing the costumes. They had a special light that if something white comes it will make the colour turn blue. They also had a special computer that told us all about the costumes.

I think it will help me make my own costumes because now I know all about wearable art costumes.

I have 110 fireworks and 11 people how many people will each blow the fireworks.

What I have enjoyed so far

What I have enjoyed so far is camp because we learnt how to set up a tent.
What I am looking forward to is my reading so that I can get better and learn new words.

Swimming

What I am proud of with my swimming is my breathing and big arms in freestyle.

What I am working on is keeping my bottom pushed up so my feet don't sink doing backstroke.
